Accounting & bookkeeping has become increasingly cloud-based meaning, that as a firm, we are less restricted by having to serve clients within a certain proximity. Historically, we have worked with businesses only within our area, and that means helping any business whether it’s a construction company, a photographer, or a restaurant. With our transition to the cloud, we have become a firm without borders. We have the ability to partner with businesses anywhere within the United States. This expansion of our practice has made us realize the value of selecting a particular niche that we can focus on to stand out as industry experts. We have a team of hospitality industry insiders, and restaurants feed our passion. That is why we have decided to transform our practice and develop a brand that speaks to an industry we love.
What does “Prix Fixe” mean?
Prix Fixe \ˈprē-ˈfēks, -ˈfiks\ translates to fixed price. It is a French term that refers to a type of menu featuring a pre-selected list of dishes at a set price. The menu is curated by the chef – you’re given limited options for each course and away you go. In our case, we are the chef providing you with a selection of technology and services, at a fixed price, that will dramatically improve your business’ efficiency.
What exactly is this “Niche”?
The hospitality industry is made up of a variety of businesses. It’s hard to categorize these companies into succinct subsets, but our sweet spot includes:
Restaurants: Full-Service, Quick-Service, Cafes, Coffee Shops, Bars and Catering
Lodging: Hotels, Motels, Inns with 10-50 rooms
This list is not all encompassing, but gives a sense of the companies we’re aiming to work with in the future.
So how does this shift affect you?
What if you’re not a restaurant or lodging business? Nothing changes! While we are focusing on the hospitality industry, it will not diminish our connection with our current client base. We still love our legacy clients, but, as we look to the future, we are focusing our marketing efforts on companies within the hospitality industry.
How does communication change?
If you have a managed email address (for example: bookkeeping or accounting @yourdomain.com), there will be no shift, but that address should be your primary channel of communication.
If you currently email a member of our team directly, they are still your point person, but you will email: bookkeeping@prixfixe.accountants starting July 1st
Why are we shifting communication?
We work as a team, and while you may have one point of contact, our firm structure benefits from having additional members of our team that work on your books in tandem. We also have recognized that we have a few areas that we are aiming to improve when it comes to client communication. In the future, if we have changes in staff, someone out of the office, or move from one point of contact to another, we will be able to provide you the same level of service. With this shift to a centralized email system, we will:
Respond to emails faster
Send fewer emails with clearer communication
Provide more consistent service and deliverables
Deliver deeper, more insightful financial analysis
We’re excited about these changes, and we hope you are too. As we transition to the new brand and communication system, we will be sending out periodic surveys about these changes and hope you will provide us with honest feedback. As always, if you have any comments, questions or concerns, you can reach out to lucy@prixfixe.accountants.
